Friday night, the Indiana Fever, along with Caitlin Clark, returned to work after the WNBA break against the Phoenix Mercury. The Fever have captured the first two games in the season series and look to make it 3-0.
Indiana opened hot in the first quarter, jumping out with an early double-digit advantage.
Clark shot on fire off the opening tip, connecting on a hard three and hitting two and-ones.
The former Iowa Hawkeyes star, not even through one quarter since her return into the WNBA, made history once more bounces around with the rock.
Then with 6:53 remaining in the first, Clark notched her 450th point of the season with her second field goal of the contest to become the first rookie ever to post 450 or more points and 200-plus assists.
Not only that but Clark is only the sixth player ever to reach these numbers in a single season.
Clark adds to an already stellar resume from her rookie season. She received the most WNBA All-Star votes, and broke the record for most assists by a rookie in an All-Star game with ten.
Not only that, but Clark also became the only WNBA rookie ever to record a triple-double.
